This is a very simple way to make your very own bourbon sauce for any number of different uses.
- 1 cup BBQ Sauce
- 1/2 cup Water
- 3 Tbsp Bourbon
- Stir together and simmer for 10 minutes. (med-low, 3/10 for heat)
The taste is fairly similar to Foster Farms Bourbon Chicken, which is exactly what I wanted from such a recipe.
I had similar results using 2 Tbsp spiced rum and 1 Tbsp scotch, so feel free to experiment if you don’t like or don’t have bourbon on hand.
I use this mainly as a sauce for pizza and for adding to chicken for biscuit filling.
Consider adding spices, cinnamon, vanilla, or honey to enhance the flavors. Goes exceptionally well with mesquite seasoning, either in the sauce or over the top.
